Who is the Yue Fei and Qin Hui of Singapore politics ?

All of us know who Yue Fei is. He is famous Chinese general, martyr and hero who defended the Song dynasty against the Jin invaders in the 11th century. However, little was known about who killed Yue Fei. It is not the Jins or Emperor Gao Zong, but a Han traitor named Qin Hui.

Qin Hui was captured along with the Emperors Hui and Qing when the capital of the Northern Song dynasty was sacked and conquered by the Jin troops in 1129 AD. He returned to the Southern Song dynasty 10 years later claiming that he managed to escape from his captors. In fact, he was actually a Jin spy sent to infilitrate the Song government.

In the early years of the Southern Song, Yue Fei advocated a militaristic policy to reconquer the lands lost to the Jin. His Yue Jia army had defeated the Jins in a number of battles and was about to take back Kaifeng.

However, Qin Hui petitioned strongly against Yue Fei to Emperor Gao. His arguments against fighting the Jins were:

1. Southern Song is too weak militarily to defeat the Jin and can only hope of doing so in the “next 20 years”.

2. Right now, the real danger to Song lies in the economy and not against external aggressors.

3. The Jin had done a good job so far governing Northern China and therefore Song should give Jin a “passing mark” and not start an unnecessary war.

4. The Jin is military is too powerful to be defeated; one wrong move will endanger Song’s existence, therefore Song should continue to appease Jin by making annual tributes to the Jin Emperor.

5. Song lacked the resources to embark on a military expedition and could only concentrate on improving its internal policies at present.

How can we expect the enemy Jin to be defeated when we have a traitor like Qin Hui sabotaging our plans from within.

In order to fight the Jin, we must ERADICATE the Qin Huis within the opposition first.
